Angry

I have been in my new house one week, and I am unpacking boxes and organizing the new space. I am getting really sick of unpacking and unpacking and unpacking and then figuring out where it should all go. I am starting to throw a bunch of stuff away.

I have saved many AG boxes. I used to be able to store them in my bedroom closet, but in this house, I will have to store them in an unfinished basement. We have a dehumidifier going, but it still is damp down there. Will the AG boxes just get ruined and smelly if I store them in the basement? Will I really need these boxes in the future? Should I throw them out? Will I ever be finished unpacking and feel like this place is home?

I don't keep all my boxes anymore. It just took up too much space. I keep the doll boxes and the nice sturdy ones (fron salon chair, bitty baby car seat, etc).

I know how tiring unpacking can be. It's a great time to go through things and toss the unwanted.

Oh how I hate moving!!!!
Judiaci, don't feel bad, we have been here since Dec. and I still haven't unpacked a ton of boxes!! I guess we have alot of things we could really live without.
I used to save every box for everything, but I have learned to let go. I have just a few boxes now, like Kaileys and Jess' boxes. I don't ever plan on selling anything, so I don't need the boxes.I would only save them if I were going to sell them someday.

I know how you feel--We moved several times in the first 10 years or so of our marriage, and every time I FINALLY finished unpacking, I'd think that if I EVER saw another cardboard box again in my life, it was too soon!

We've been in our present house for 9 years now, and I STILL dread the thought of ever having to move again!

Good luck getting settled in!

I think the boxes would, eventually, get a basement smell. I don't save any of the boxes.

I was an Army brat growing up and the most I moved was seven times in one year. Never gave the boxes long enough to stay in one place to get smelly.
What you might consider is folding the AG boxes down and storing them all in one container. Those seal it bags or are they called shrink it bags. They work great for compacting things and keeping them airtight.
Do not throw the AG boxes away... if you decide you can't store them ... then have a boxing day sale. I've seen them sold on e-bay and I'm sure that you could get some offers here.

Remember to think ahead and this will soon be a happy memory that you can chuckle about with a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie. It will fall into place in time and then you can share the pictures with us. BIG HUG!!! ^j^ Mrs.C.

I agree with what Mrs. C said about storing them all in airtight containers. I don't save any of the boxes myself, however, except for some of the sturdier ones we use for storage. I wish I had saved more of the doll boxes.

As for moving, the last time I moved it was just a few streets away to a bigger house and I was only 6. I had a lot of fun going through toys with my babysitter !

Hi Judi, congrats on your new house.

I moved to my current location about a year ago, and yes, packing and UNpacking are such a pain! I remember having all sorts of boxes and junk all over the place. I hope you can take a break just to relax a bit. Don't tire yourself out.

I tend not to save all my AG boxes because they take up too much space--I think the best boxes to save are the ones for dolls, accessories and furniture because they will be helpful if you need to move again. I just keep my doll clothes in a big Sterilite box.

Your AG boxes might get smelly if they stay in the basement, so you should probably store them in a large plastic container or bag. Or you could also just throw them out or give them away.

Even though unpacking is hard work, you will be finished soon. Enjoy your new home and good luck!!
